Description of Course
The Connecticut Documentation and Observation for Teaching System (CT DOTS) is a framework to guide early care and education providers in a process of monitoring children’s progress on the skills, abilities, and behaviors in the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS). This Introduction to CT DOTS for Administrators and Consultants is designed for individuals who will be supporting early care and education staff in implementing CT DOTS. This session will provide an overview of the tool, will address individualizing for teacher learning styles, using a team approach to implementation, and will reinforce how CT DOTS might fit in a comprehensive assessment system. Participants will develop an implementation plan including goal-setting and a timeframe based on current staff competency and experience. This training addresses support of ECE staff around Core Knowledge and Competency Framework Domain Four: Observing, Documenting and Assessing with a specific focus on the following categories:

  • Early Childhood Screening and Assessment
  • Observation and Documentation to Inform Planned Program
  • Engaging Families
